There are incredible HR leaders and outstanding business leaders. Madan is a rare combination of both.
He was our first HR leader for Facebook APAC. He joined us from Amazon when the entirety of Facebook Asia had just about 25 members and was growing. Later, he was handpicked by Carolyn Everson to partner with her in New York, taking on a global HR role. His 6-year stint at Facebook is still remembered even to this day by people he touched! He then moved on to serve as the CHRO for several of the most influential companies and currently building Paxos which is one of the most respected regulated blockchain companies in the world.
Building a high-growth company and a high-performance organization would not have been possible without Madan's partnership. He has an exceptional knack for identifying top talent, he sees it and knows what great looks like and is unafraid to demand greatness from his peers and I was fortunate to collaborate with him and his direct report Sweta Shukla as well.
While alignment with business leaders is crucial for HR leaders, I deeply valued Madan's ability to operate at the intersection of people and business—a skill very few HR leaders possess. If a business leader's approach ever seemed conflicting, Madan was swift to point it out and advocate fervently for the stakeholders through spirited debates. He was always right!
My growth as a leader has been profound thanks to Madan. From mastering the art and science of crafting a compelling message to aligning business strategy with organizational strategy, nurturing executives, understanding digital transformation on a global scale, and being a constant support throughout my career and life transitions. Of course, I can't forget the fitness and fashion advice he always offers.
